The UK pavilion exemplifies those buildings in which architecture and engineering are inseparable. The harsh summer climate of Seville was moderated by borrowing traditional methods, adapted by taking advantage of modern materials and technology to serve contemporary user-needs. Prefabrication of the building fabric and major plant items, as well as its visually expressed steel structure, was fundamental to the ‘kit-of-parts’ approach adopted.
