Using the IStructE logo
Members are reminded that they may use the Institution logo in relation to their business activities. This helps to promote the corporate identity of the profession and provides a link between the firm or other organisation and its professional body. Each use of the logo must, however, be in accordance with the Institution's guidelines and be the subject of a licence issued by IStructE.
The full guidelines, and an application form, may be found by clicking here. They are also available in hard copy format from the Institution. Briefly, the guidelines require that a substantial part of the work of the organisation must be in, or closely related to, structural engineering, and that at least one of the directors or partners must be a Chartered or an Incorporated structural engineer. Members may also use the IStructE logo on site signboards, and a separate leaflet for this is available (for a copy please click here).
IStructE makes no charge for processing applications. On approval, the Institution issues a licence and an electronic version of the logo.
Previously, the Institution issued licences for five year periods (unless there was a significant change in the organisation before then, such as in its activities, legal constitution or name), when a fresh application had to be made. Licences issued in future will not require renewal after five years, although existing five year licences will expire in the course of time, and renewal should then be sought from the Institution.
Members who are using the logo should ensure that they have a current licence to do so, otherwise an application should be made to the Institution. Any unauthorised use of the logo is dealt with through the Professional Conduct Committee. |
