What is the Institution of Structural Engineers?
This is the Institution to which all Chartered and Incorporated Structural Engineers are proud to belong. It controls the training and the qualification of young engineers and acts as their Learned Society, enabling members to share skills and knowledge throughout their career. If you think that you may find a career in designing, constructing or researching buildings and structures then this is your professional institution. Nobody in this world is guaranteed a job but the sooner you join the Institution of Structural Engineers, the sooner you will have an opportunity to get to know senior local engineers, local engineering firms and prospective employers. This will definitely help your vacation employment prospects and also your future career prospects.
How much will it cost me to be a student member?
Student membership is FREE to all under-graduates following an approved full-time civil and/or structural engineering course. Modest subscription rates apply to students on part-time courses. Joining as a student exempts you from a number of payments required from those who join as graduates or even later in their careers.
