Engineering Practice Committee
The Engineering Practice Committee meets 4 times a year and reports to Council after each meeting. The Committee’s Terms of Reference are:
- To be responsible for developing and implementing policy concerning technical matters related to structural engineering.
- To promote and encourage research relative to structural engineering and its use in practice.
- To keep under review legislation, codes and standards and other matters affecting the profession.
- To form (and disband) Study Groups, and to appoint their convenors.
- To consider and as thought fit to appoint and remove Institution representatives on outside bodies primarily of a technical engineering nature.
- To agree and oversee work on technical projects.
- To liaise with other relevant organisations and government agencies.

The Committee is chaired by a Vice-President and made up of 2 members of Council (of whom one is Chairman or Vice-Chairman), 18 Branch representatives, 7 others, the Chairmen of the Panels, and the President.
