Eurocodes
The Institution is working on a number of fronts to facilitate the introduction of the Eurocodes.
Information available on this website includes: a general introduction under Eurocode Development; a link to the Eurocode Expert website offering a wide range of information; and anticipated publication dates.
In 2004, the Institution assisted the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in devising a National Strategy for the Implementation of the Structural Eurocodes in the UK
Further to this, the Institution has set up the industry-wide Standing Committee on Implementation of Eurocodes which is playing a key role in monitoring the implementation of the Eurocodes in the UK and addressing the various issues that need to be resolved to enable the introduction of the Eurocodes to be as smooth as possible.
On 13 November 2006 a seminar on the Design of Highway Structures using Eurocodes was held at IStructE. The seminar was aimed at all bridge engineers and others, including students and academics, wanting to keep up-to-date with current and future practice on highway structures. The presentations made at this event can be viewed by clicking here.
The Standing Committee is sourcing articles for The Structural Engineer and selected articles are available for viewing here
The Standing Committee is also preparing Why? What? When? Eurocode briefing reports as regular column in The Structural Engineer.
The Institution has set up a number of Task Groups to prepare a suite of Eurocode Manuals.
The following Manuals have already been published:
A number of universities are introducing Eurocodes into their teaching and the Institution has set up a Study Group on Teaching Eurocodes in University to support the academics in this task.
Practitioners will be able to find various Courses on the Eurocodes in the Institution's regular programme of courses.
